I am suggesting to organize a family outing some time next March during the school holidays. So far the response is quite encouraging.
Quah Peng is the first classmate to reply, follow by Chee Keong and Pei Fong.
Quah Peng has suggested to go to Langkawi, because she can get good rates there.
I hope other classmates can post your suggestions here so that we can decide where to go.

Ideally there will be activities for both kids and adults.
I am visualising an afternoon by the pool and a bbq. In the evening, kids and enjoy themselves with board games or cartoon and guys with a round of majong or cards.
After breakfast the next morning, we can go for some out door activities such as hiking, or bicycle rides or sports and lunch.
You are welcome to post your ideas of how to spend two great days together.
My 2 elder kids have piano exams during the holiday, so won't be able to make it. Please enjoy yourself. Hopefully we can join you in the next outing.

Yes, i am still in the welding business. Has been in this line for 16 years and it is getting a bit bored now.
I am also currently doing plant and machinery valuation on a part time basis. We nearly clinched a deal to value the plant and machinery for Changi Airport last year.

Heok Ooi, do you have any policy wiht AIA, better to surrender now before it becomes junk. Better to insure with local insurers like GEH.
Luckily i will be affected other then the critical hospitalization policy with AIA.. I am not as rich as you think. brother !! ha ha.

I looked a bit wide because of the cropping. You know body size and business don't usually grow in tandem.
AS for the AIG case, this what i got:--
AIG is the mother company of AIA. But i was told the most of AIA's investment is local. But even so, there is no protection from local government. AIA is just a listed company not GLCs. But if you surrendered your policy, the cash value refunded will be less than premium paid. And when you take up a new policy with another insurance, the premium is much higher becauase you are older now.
So there is no win solution here. But if it is a relatively new policy, then the losses of changing to another insurance is less. But for those who has finished paying for the policy, just hang on and hope that they will protect you rather than the other way round.
I have already SMS to most our classmate, so far only Quah Peng, Lily, Chee Keong, Pei Fong, Chee Seong and you have responded. Hope that the response can be better.

Both Lily and Pei Fong are married with kid(s) already. However there is no news about Pit Fan, totally lost contact. Don't know where is Yoke Chong too. I haven't met Yong Chong for many years too. Heard from Heok Ooi that he is ok.
Heok Ooi should have some updates for us on Yoke Chong & Yong Chong. It is great to hear two more ladies are married. How many kids do Lily and Pei Fong have and how old?

As i hv mention to both of you, Yoke Chong just appear out of nowhere and call me while i was driving into Malaysia using my Malaysia number. So not much stuff being discuss other then he ask me some of my recent update as well as others people. That happen very a long time ago, end of last year.
As of 10.30am, STI lost another 70pt to 2227 now. Ha ha, hope good days ahead as when market falls it will be back up soon..

Arm chair investor is usually big time investor. You know those very rich guys, sitting in the arm chair, looking at the computer with a cigar in one hand and wine glass in the other, suddently spot a good buy, and with a click of the mouse, a deal worth millions is done.
The stock market is not for the weak hearted. If you are not in the market, stay away from it. It is better to keep your money(s) in FD with guaranteed interest. Never trust the lies of financial planners to invest your money and risk loosing your capital.

Well, it is very interest to see in the next 1 weeks. yesterday DJ and NASDAQ already lost another 7-8%.. Asia is also following the trend this morning..
And the Singapore government is started to send warning signal to people regarding retrenchment.!! Talk about more and more bad news.
Any way, the banking sector will see a big crunch in the next 1 year and for most of the bank will required some form of help now. it already started in US and European. Where most of the bank already seeking for fresh blood from their government.
The world might see a domino effect for the financial problem. We have not seen it yet in this REGION. But doesn't mean the bank is secure and without risk.
So Chee Siong, your investment in FD for the time been might be save, but we don't know if these will hit like Tsunami or not over here. Pls read the hidden line on your FD policy now!!.
If u r long term investor, maybe can pick up some blue cheaps now.
Today market seems to be a bit going up north, looks like some of the sentiment of the market had improved with so much of money throw into supporting the bank. But as Chee Siong point out.. IT IS the Blue CHEAP sales period.. lah.. Better buy now..
